I’m Not a Marketing Expert, But …

The Columbia, Tennessee sales office of Clayton Homes is running an interesting promotion between now and December 31, 2009:  Buy a home and receive a free can of Van Camp’s Pork & Beans!

At the time of this writing, the ad appears on the main homepage of the Columbia Daily Herald and is replicated below.  Click on the image to be taken to the local Clayton Homes site offering the promotion!

Now, I’ve never been known for my marketing expertise, so can someone explain this one to me?  It is amusing enough but, seriously, other than momentarily catching the eye of the viewer and getting a laugh, is anyone more likely to buy a Clayton home as a result?

Clayton Homes Pork & Beans

From ConAgra Foods Website:

Van Camp’s—”America’s Original Bean”—has been making delicious beans for more than 140 years. When looking for a tasty and satisfying bean dish, try one of Van Camp’s three different styles. Van Camp’s Pork & Beans, the No. 1 brand in pork and beans, is clearly America’s favorite. Van Camp’s Baked Beans are slow cooked to perfection using quality ingredients. Don’t forget that Van Camp’s Beanee Weenees—portable and ready-to-eat—are an ideal snack. For the perfect complement to any main dish, or even alone, beans from Van Camp’s are a real treat.

Disclosure:  The author owns shares of Berkshire Hathaway, which owns Clayton Homes. The author receives no commission or free can of Pork & Beans if you click on the ad and purchase a Clayton home.
